The Harlingen Public Library is a practical resource facility for individual citizens to borrow and use materials for personal educational enhancement and to complement and supplement our citizens' formal education. More than a thousand visitors daily use the library's new automated catalog, multimedia resources, the Internet, online periodical databases, and over 186,000 books, magazines, e-books, audiobooks, CD's, and DVD's available for circulation.

Our patrons also take advantage of the many story hours, children's programs, and the many instructional programs available for adults. The library has continually been accredited by the Texas State Library. It also has membership in the Amigos Network for fast interlibrary loan service.
